Igreja de São Dâmaso among the trees on a clear blue day

Church whose construction began in the first half of the 17th century and was only finished in the following century; it was moved next to the Castle in 1960 due to urban development works. The main chapel has a remarkable gilded wood altarpiece by local Guimarães woodcarver Pedro Coelho, and the interior is decorated with 18th-century narrative azulejo tiles depicting scenes from the life of Pope S. Dâmaso.
